Technical Writing versus Creative Writing

Technical Writing is science as well as an art. It’s science because it behooves the writer to have an inquisitive mindset to study the domain that he might be encountering for the first time. It’s an art because it’s all about crafting the words to explain product features, installation procedures, operating procedures, troubleshooting, FAQs, description of UI labels, APIs, etc. keeping in mind the end users. It’s an art to decipher complex features and elucidate in a simple and user-friendly format to capture the reader’s interest. The primary objective of technical writing is to inform and instruct users in performing a task or process or to acquaint them with a product.
